The association, which was first, mooted in mid 2008, held a Townhall gathering of industry peers on the 17th December 2008 at the Star Cybertorium to gauge the interest of the industry in forming an association. The response was overwhelming. “Over the subsequent months we began discussing the needs of the industry and how the association should be structured. We agreed that the MDA should be represented by all segments of the industry i.e. media owners/publishers/representatives/networks, media agencies, creative agencies and services/specialists. We also collectively derived the MDA’s 4 pillars/objectives: Measurement & Audit, Technical, Creative and Knowledge. A pro-tem committee was elected along with heads for each pillar.”, according to MDA President, Terence Dorairaj.
He further adds, “The formation of the MDA is a key milestone for the digital industry in Malaysia. The immediate focus for the MDA will be to implement one standard for measurement along with audited stastics. This standardization will bring much needed credibility and will be a catalyst for growth of the digital ADEX.”
The MDA is currently the talk of the town for it’s monthly gathering called Digital Wednesday, typically held on the first Wednesday of every month. Digital Wednesday brings together in one monthly gathering all the relevant industry players. It has become known as a unique networking opportunity as well an educational platform for relevant speakers to bring insight, knowledge and information. It is also an opportunity for Brands/Advertisers to promote their relevant products and services.
